Saliva is essential for speaking, chewing, is a lubricant to help swallowing, an enzyme that aids digestion and it provides anti-bacterial proteins that play a part in controlling dental and gum disease.

There are many salivary glands in the oral cavity that occasionally become obstructed or become affected by various factors including congenital abnormalities, infections, inflammatory disorders or tumours.

Mr Kumar is regularly referred patients with salivary gland obstructions (stones) or saliva filled swellings (cysts) that require removal and treatment.
